We live in Florida, and let’s fact it…the heat is here pretty much year round. Heat seems to amplify a bad odor. One thing I know I don’t want to do is clean my outside/garage trash cans every week. Is it too much to ask to have a week where I can simply put the cans back in the garage, and they not cause the entire garage to stink? Or how about a week without the annoying bugs?

I needed to find a way to keep trash can odors at bay while keeping bugs away. I’m not sure this is the perfect solution, but I did a two week trial with Arm & Hammer’s Trash Can & Dumpster Deodorizer. It has worked (or at least helped A LOT).

I have had to reapply the product each week after the trash is picked up. I also noticed if the cans get wet with the product in the bottom (hey, it’s Florida and we get the frequent afternoon rain shower), then you will need to wash out the cans as the powder dries together as a thick substance. However, I have appreciated the ease of sprinkling in some powder v. having to clean out our three large trash cans each week. Do you have a trick for keeping your garage trash cans clean? While I may continue to look for other options for our garage trash cans, this is my #tipTuesday.
